2040 pt 1

It was our arrogance.

I watch the ships go up in the sky and I wonder if they knew, if they really knew, would they? Perhaps they would, it is their duty but what of their mothers, the wives, the ones who will mourn their deaths; their daughters.

As in the days of past I lift my arms and look to the sky and ask him for mercy, that none of these men and women who charge to protect their homes, that when they do die, they die with dignity and that they do so quickly. I also pray for forgiveness because I know that their lives will be lost because of our arrogance and our sense of self rightousness.

I felt them, as the others must have, when they came past the moon, so many...that is the irony of it all. Thousands and thousands of them, yet we, the "rightous" number less than fifty, with only 14 of us pure bloods left, now the unclean come back live an angry hive swarming against some slow pitiful animal that dared seek their honey.

I have been called by many names in the past, but in this age I picked Isis Minerva, goddess of death, goddess of war, goddess of wisdom, the first two are very apt, for it was part my folly that will cause all the death and the weeping that will come this night, my folly that will cause the war in the days after.

Wisdom? I knew this would happen, not exactly but I knew this day would eventually be here, yet when our split into factions over the years, and split even further in the years after and I know some of those spurned will join them in the air, some will see this as a chance to reclaim whatever former glory they had in the past.

The year is 2040 and a new age is beginning.
